WORKSTAR is a specialist employment agency based in Nelson.

Our services are at no cost  to employers and job seekers.

We provide Supported Employment working with local employers to:

• Place people with disabilities into the mainstream workforce.
• Provide job training.
• Provide on-going support to both the jobseeker and the employer.

WORKSTAR is the brand name of the Village Community Trust, a charitable trust, which has been operating since 1990.

We work with people with psychiatric, intellectual, physical or sensory disability and annually help over 100 people to find productive, paid work.

WORKSTAR advocates for the right of people with disabilites to take their place in the workforce, to develop their skills and have opportunities that meet their vocational needs and aspirations.

WORKSTAR is positively impacting the lives of local people by providing free services to both job seekers and employers.

By overcoming the barriers to employment,  individuals are able to take positive steps towards independent living, financial autonomy, fulfillment and self-respect.

WORKSTAR is partially funded by the Government. We believe that there is much more that can be done in this area, and with the generous support of people and organisations we can extend our services - in terms of both

• the numbers of people that we can assist; and
• the range of services that we are able to offer.
